The main reason I do what I do is to share my creativity with others like minded crafters. That’s all of you! While I hope I inspire some of you to get stamping, cutting and embossing, I also take inspiration from all of you.
Today’s card was inspired by someone I came across on Instagram- Kaylee (otherwise know as Creative Watermelon). You can pop over to here blog here. Her cards are simply amazing and I know I look forward to seeing her new designs. I’ve referred to the blending technique used as the watermelon ever since I saw her video on Instagram demonstrating how she does it. So of course I had to give it ago!
I started with a base of Whisper White in the same size as the Narrow Note Cards; you can currently buy these saying 10% to celebrate World Card Making Day! Perfect time to stock up on some essentials. I did just want a single layer to sit on the base, which is why I cut a mat of Whisper White one centimetre smaller. Before I started blending the chosen colours together I secured this mat down to my grid paper with some washi tape, again leaving half a centimetre all the way around.
I chose four colours Highland Heather,Gorgeous Grape, Rich Razzleberry & Blackberry Bliss. Who doesn’t love all these purple shades? I used Stampin Sponges to blended the colour and simple bounced the colour onto the Whisper White. I’d always start with the lightest shade working to the the darkest, what I’d also also suggest is don’t be scard to go back to the lighter colours to help blend the darker ones in. This will help to stop you having distincted different tone and will create a smoother blend. Once I was happy with the colours I left it overnight to completely dry, you could heat it with a heat gun but as it had some time I left it.
I rubbed the Embossing Buddy over the blended card befor grabbing the beautiful bow from the Wishing You Well Stamp Set from the Autumn Winter Catalogue. I heat set these in White embossing powder. I tried to be random in my placing of the bow which didn’t really happen with it being pretty stacked. As you can probably see from the image I had to trim the edges down and layered into Whisper White as I peeled the washi tape off to quickly and ripped the card a tiny bit.
A signature to Kaylees cards are the banner across the card with the sentiment on. When I sent out to make this card, I didn’t think I would these but it just works perfectly so I had no choice. I stamped the ‘Wishing You Well’ stamp in Versamark onto a Basic Black strip and embossed in white also. And that’s all for today’s card. It’s a lot of work to create the background but I’m sure you’d agree, it’s worth it.
There’s load of new Promotions that have all been posted on my social media; one detailed above is the World Card Making Day with 10% off selected items. Make sure you pop over to check them all out!
