Is Sunday already? How did that creep up on us so fast!
Normally on Saturday I was get some cards made ready for the week ahead to share with you all. However yesterday I decided to treat my partner to a little trip to Kennilworth Castle. It was so interesting finding out about Robert Dudley and all the rumours regarding is love life. To top it off as the castle is only ruins now we were able to continue to walk around and up some stairs. I would highly recommend it.
If you follow me on Facebook and Instagram you will be aware that today’s card is using the Beautiful Baubles Photopolymer Stamp Set. I used this stamp set along with the Dashing Along DSP that was free if you place an order over £200.00 for my October swaps that have already been posted out. As I only used three of the baubles on the cards for my swaps this meant I had three baubles left waiting to be used.
My idea for the card was to have them hanging from the top of the card with the sentiment being at the bottom. I roughly doodled down my idea for the lay out but as you can see from the video the layout wasn’t the issue! I really struggled to find a base that worked well with this card, not sure why but I did. I tried the base original in Old Olive but felt it wasn’t screaming Christmas, I then tried with Garden Green as this is one of the colours in the Dashing Along DSP I was happier with this until I remembered Crumb Cake worked well before. So I have examples of all the above colours, personally I prefer the Crumb Cake but Sean prefers Garden Green. Who’s side are you on?
I will leave the base down to yourselves to decide but everything else is the same on each of the cards. There is two layers to the card one being Cherry Cobbler measuring 2 5/8 inches squared and then the largest Stitched Shapes Square in Whisper White. Before I adhered these all together I used the little stars stamp in Sahara Sand ink with me stamping it off before onto the Whisper White piece. I did this corner to corner to break up the background, in Garden Green ink I stamped the sentiment that fits just perfectly in the space in the bottom left corner. The baubles were heat embossed onto the Dashing Along DSP in white Embossing powder. Sadly you don’t get to see this in the video because I already had load ready to be used. You’ll see me use the others in my months card swap video. This stamp set has a coordinating Thinlits set that perfectly cuts the baubles out,
I popped these up onto dimensionals before using the 01 journaling pen and a ruler to draw the string. Let’s just say I learn my less from the swaps and this is much easier – You’ll see. And all that’s left to do is attach all the layers together and you are done. It’s so simple to make an dyiu can easily make multiples of this card to send to family and friends.
