Hello crafty friends!
Today I’m so excited to be joining Altenew in celebrating the incredible May 2026 Release as part of this special Blog Hop + Giveaway event. If you’ve arrived here from the hop, welcome! If not, be sure to head over to the official Altenew Blog Hop Post so you don’t miss any of the inspiration from the talented designers taking part.
For my card today, I created an elegant floral design featuring the stunning Craft-A-Flower: Grand Dahlia Layering Die Set. This set is currently sold out, which honestly says everything about how beautiful and popular this release has been already!
Why You’ll Love the Craft-A-Flower: Grand Dahlia Layering Die Set
The Craft-A-Flower collection has always been one of my favourite Altenew collections, and the Grand Dahlia may honestly be one of the most striking designs yet. The layering creates so much depth and dimension while still being incredibly easy to assemble.
What I particularly love about this set is how versatile it is. You can keep it soft and elegant with pastel shades or go bold and dramatic with richer tones. The petal detail really does all the hard work for you, making it easy to create a card that looks intricate and impressive.
Even though this set is currently sold out, I highly recommend keeping an eye on the release collection page because I have a feeling this one will return quickly!
Card Inspiration – Elegant Grand Dahlia Floral Card

For today’s card, I wanted the floral arrangement to be the real focal point while keeping the rest of the design clean and sophisticated. The layered petals create so much natural movement that I didn’t want to overcomplicate the background.
The finished card has lots of dimension while still feeling soft and elegant, which is always one of my favourite combinations in cardmaking.

- Create a card base using Andromeda Cardstock.
- Cut a slightly smaller mat layer from the same Andromeda Cardstock and adhere this to the card base.
- Die cut the Grand Dahlia and leaf layers from white cardstock using the Craft-A-Flower: Grand Dahlia Layering Die Set.
- Ink blend the dahlia layers using the Shades of Purple Fresh Dye Ink Bundle.
- Ink blend the leaf layers using the Chasing Shadows Fresh Dye Ink Bundle.
- Assemble the dahlia and leaves using liquid adhesive, layering each piece together to build the dimension.
- Arrange and adhere the completed dahlia and leaves onto the card front.
- Add white ink splatter across the card for extra texture and contrast.
- Create the sentiment using the One-Go: Solid Sentiment Strips 3 Press Plates/Foil Plates (Gratitude Edition).
- Add the sentiment to the card front.
- Finish with a bow and Altenew Stellar Sequins – Clear Iridescent.

Beautiful card! Love the colors and design.
This is glorious! Those blossoms look magnificent, especially on that dark background! WOW!!!
I really like the dark card stock you used for your card base. It shows off the beautiful color blending on your dahlias. Love your card design so much!
Clean and Sophisticated is spot on! What a beautiful card and the dark background is the perfect base. I need to remember all bases do not need to be white. Nicely done.
