Hello crafty friends!
Today’s card is bursting with bold colour, playful layering and a whole lot of love. I wanted to create something fun and eye-catching for Valentine’s Day, and those bright cherries against the soft pink background felt like the perfect combination.
The star of the show is the gorgeous oversized sentiment from Papertrey Ink, which instantly gives this design impact and makes the whole card feel joyful and celebratory.
Why You’ll Love the This is Big Sentiments: Love Stamp Set
If you adore bold sentiments that do the heavy lifting for your design, the This is Big Sentiments: Love Stamp Set from Papertrey Ink is one to have in your collection.
Here’s why I love it:
- The oversized “Love” creates an instant focal point
- It pairs beautifully with smaller sub-sentiments like “Happy Valentine’s Day”
- It works for clean and simple cards or more layered designs like this one
- It stamps beautifully and is easy to line up
Sometimes all you need is one strong sentiment and your card practically makes itself. This set does exactly that.
Card Inspiration – Cherry Sweet Valentine

For this project, I wanted a background that felt playful but still cohesive. The cherries were created using stencils from the Diamond Press Summertime Stencil Collection, blending bright reds and fresh greens for a vibrant finish. I’ve kept the focus mainly on the Papertrey Ink sentiment, but the cherries definitely bring the fun.
The soft pink panel helps the red cherries pop, while the layered die-cut sentiment adds dimension and makes everything feel polished.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Cut a panel of soft pink cardstock slightly smaller than your card base.
- Use the cherry stencils to blend red tones for the fruit and light green shades for the leaves.
- Add subtle white paint splatters for texture and interest.
- Trim and adhere the pink panel onto a coordinating pink card base.
- Stamp the “Love” sentiment from the This is Big Sentiments: Love Stamp Set in a rich red ink.
- Die cut or fussy cut the sentiment and layer it with white cardstock for added dimension.
- Stamp the “Happy Valentine’s Day” sub-sentiment and mount it onto a small red strip.
- Adhere the sentiments to the centre of the card using foam tape for extra depth.
- Finish with a few sequins for sparkle and subtle shine.
The layering and dimension really elevate this design and make it feel special without being complicated.
