Hello crafty friends!
The holiday season is all about sparkle, texture, and a touch of handmade magic — and today’s project has all three! This card, featuring the Mini Ornaments Die Set from Alex Syberia Designs, combines modern layering with classic festive colours for a joyful design that’s full of charm.
Why you’ll love the Mini Ornaments Die Set
The Mini Ornaments Die Set might be small in name, but it’s mighty in creativity. Each die offers incredible detail, allowing you to create miniature accents, floral-style motifs, or even intricate backgrounds. It’s one of those versatile sets that’s not just for ornaments — it can be reimagined across all seasons. Here, I’ve used the set to craft poinsettia-style flowers, proving how adaptable it truly is.
Card Inspiration – “Joyful Blooms”

The inspiration behind this card came from the word “JOY” — both as a sentiment and a feeling. By combining bold typography, a little glitter, and delicate die-cut florals, I wanted to capture the warmth of the season in a modern, layered composition.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Create your base: Start with a teal card base. Add white splatters using acrylic paint or ink for a snowy effect.
- Build your focal layer: Die cut the word “JOY” from gold glitter cardstock and mount it onto a strip of champagne-coloured cardstock. Gently curl the edges for texture.
- Add contrast: Layer a mustard yellow panel behind the sentiment strip to introduce warmth and dimension.
- Die cut your florals: Use the Mini Ornaments Die Set to create small red flowers and soft green leaves. Assemble with yellow centres for a festive poinsettia look.
- Arrange your layout: Cluster the flowers around your sentiment, balancing larger blooms with smaller ones for an organic flow.
- Finish with a greeting: Stamp and heat-emboss the sentiment “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” trimming it into a narrow strip and layering it across your glittered “JOY.”
