Hello crafty friends!
Welcome to Day 2 of the challenge! Today’s prompt is Candy Cottage — a theme that invites us to lean into the sweetest parts of Christmas. Think pastel pinks, sugary mints, and the smell of fresh-baked gingerbread. It’s that feeling of childhood wonder wrapped up in a swirl of peppermint and sparkle.
This one’s all about creating something cheerful, a little nostalgic, and completely fun. Whether your style is cute and kitschy or soft and frosted, there’s plenty of room to play with colour and texture.

Daily Challenge

Let’s channel that candy-shop magic. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Colour story: start with a pastel base — soft pinks, mint greens, creamy whites, and a hint of toffee brown.
- Textures: mix glossy finishes with matte cardstock, glitter accents, or embossed patterns to echo icing and sugar.
- Details: include gingerbread men, candy canes, gumdrops, or lollipops for a sense of playfulness.
- Layouts: try clustering your elements like a Christmas sweet shop window — overlapping treats and ribbons for a layered, cosy look.
Today’s Project

For my take on Candy Cottage, I turned to the Peppermint Twist Collection from Rosie’s Studio. This range is filled with pastel papers, gingerbread icons, and peppermint swirls — everything you need for a sugar-coated scene.
I started with a delicate patterned background in soft mint, layered a wash of pink behind it, and built a focal cluster around a sweet jar bursting with cookies and star biscuits. The oversized peppermint lollipop instantly draws the eye, while the gingerbread people bring a touch of personality and warmth.
To finish, I added a scattering of sequins to catch the light — subtle but effective, like a dusting of sugar over fresh icing. The sentiment “Wishing You a Sweet Christmas” ties everything together perfectly.
