Card Inspiration – Fluttering Friend Card

This project is full of soft pastel layers and pops of bold eggplant purples, balanced with delicate die-cut details and a clean, bright sentiment. Before we jump into the step-by-step, I just have to say how fun it was to build up all these butterflies with dimensional adhesive to really make them pop off the card front!
Here’s how you can recreate it:
- Prepare your background:
Start with a soft pink cardstock base. To add extra interest, lightly splatter white paint or ink across the background for a dreamy, textured look. - Stencil and die-cut the butterflies:
Using the Butterfly Focal Die-n-Stencil, ink blend purples ranging from soft lilac to deep eggplant onto white cardstock. Then die-cut multiple butterflies using the coordinating die. - Add dimension:
Layer the butterflies using foam tape between the layers to create depth. You can gently curl the wings for even more movement. - Assemble your card:
Arrange the butterflies across the card front, overlapping slightly for a natural fluttering effect. - Create your sentiment:
Die-cut the word “friend” from the Overlapping Hugs Additions Combo in a soft neutral color. Adhere it across the middle butterflies using small foam squares for dimension. - Finishing touches:
Add a few iridescent sequins scattered across the card for extra sparkle and whimsy.
And that’s it! You now have a beautifully layered butterfly card that’s perfect for sending some love to a special friend.
