There’s something truly heartwarming about sunflowers—they embody warmth, cheerfulness, and a touch of rustic beauty. Recently, I created this handmade card featuring Papertrey Ink’s Sunflower Garden Stencil Collection, and I couldn’t be more excited to share the process and inspiration behind it.
Todays Project
I started by layering the Sunflower Garden stencils on a Very Vanilla card panel. Using blending brushes, I applied shades of bright yellow and golden browns for the sunflowers, soft greens for the leaves, and small pops of blue for the tiny flowers in the background. The stencils make the whole process seamless and fun. I couldn’t leave it there though, I fussy cut the images out to pop it up on some foam adhesive.
No card is complete without a heartfelt message. I used a bold “thankful” die cut from metallic gold cardstock to create a statement piece. The warmth of the gold ties in beautifully with the sunny color palette of the sunflowers. Beneath that, I added a small Early Espresso strip with the phrase “For your friendship” embossed in white, which adds contrast and a personal touch.
