It’s nearly the weekend! I’m so excited and I have the next couple of days off to relax and hopefully get some crafting done. Make sure you head over to my social media to see what’s happening in the life of Martin’s Mayhem.
Now today’s card is something that I have to admit, doesn’t look as good in the picture as it does in person. Which is a shame but at lease I know how pretty it is. I used the ‘Wishing You Well’ Stamp Set and I set myself a little challenge to try and used one of the stamps in this set that I haven’t used before. I did achieve this but not as successfully as I had hoped. My aim was to try and use the bundle of flowers or the little flowers, this didn’t happen.
As you can see the main focal point of this card is the wreath, I started this card on a standard C6 size however in the end chopped it down make a 4×4 card. I base and first matt are in the wonderful Sahara Sand, to create something interesting happening in the background I stamped the wreath all over the first matt in Versamark Ink and heat set this in Whisper White. At this point I also stamped the wreath onto Basic Black and repeated the same process. I did fussy cut around the Basic Black wreath to take centre stage.
I brought my Stamparatus and a 1.5cm strip of Whisper White to Stamp my sentiment. I used the magnets to hold the card stock down so I was able to line up my stamp before pulling down the arm to pick up the stamp. I stamped this down in Memento Ink. When this is all down I cut the card down and fish tailed the ends. I original thought that this was the card done with me just aligning the bits as I wanted.
Something just wasn’t sitting right for me, I think it was just too busy and I really needed to tone it down. Which is why I introduced the vellum layer, this softened the background and allowed for the centre focus to stand on its own. In the end I was super happy with how this card turned out and I’m so upset that the photo doesn’t do it justice.
I know I have such a busy few days ahead of me with prep for the Stampin Up event that’s coming up on 10/11/18 as well as trying to keep up with the cards and videos for each one. I hope your enjoying them.
