Did I make you jump? If I did I apologise. Yesterday I held my monthy Coffee and A Card class and it was requested we do Halloween & Christmas gift boxes of some sort. Now this automatically filled me with dread, I’m not a 3D papercrafter if I’m 100% honest but I never shy away from a challenge.
I thought we need a little break from Christmas a celebrate my favourite holiday; Halloween. I don’t know why I love it so much but it’s so much fun! Now this project probably isn’t one that you’ll be handing out at the door, admittedly however it’s perfect for children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, anyone really.
I used the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes as a base and used Granny Apple Green Card Stock to create a belly band to go around the box. While this is lovely on its own, I wanted to step it up a little bit so I took the sentiment and stamped it onto the card stock in the coordinating ink to create a tonal impression. I tried to mix this up a little bit by stamping on and off the card. This is such an effective way to break up large spaces and block colours.
The Warm Hearted Stamp Set is perfect to get your Stamparatus out and get playing. Can I be frank for a second? I was so sceptical but this tool and I didn’t see why anyone would need it. My opinion has changed and as you’ve seen, I’m using it on every card. The sentiment we are using today is a two step stamp and I stamped the main body in Granny Apple Green and the shadow in Smoky Slate, this stamp does need some lining up to ensure it’s perfect but it is achievable. This was stamped onto a strip of Whisper White which I just fish tailed.
I used the Granny Apple Green Textures Weave Ribbon to wrap around the box with the belly band we created earlier. With this I eased White Twine to attach the sentiment. Now for my favourite part of this project. The little skulls, not the nicest of things but aren’t they adorable? I stamped them in Memento Ink and used the Light Smoky Slate Blend to create some depth. These were just fussy cut out and random dotted onto the box.
You should all now by know I like my bling and I just didn’t feel that a Silver Rhinestone would work. I grabbed my Granny Apple Green Blend and just ran it around the Rhinestone and it changes the colour! Why didn’t I know this before?! You’ll be seeing more of this trust me.
I won’t lie to you I’m excited to go back to a card for Tuesday. I love the projects I have coming up and really hope you all love them too, make sure you come back to see them. If not head over to my social media to follow see what I’m up to!
See you around!
