Today I’m sharing a softly layered Christmas card created with the beautiful Sleigh Bells Ring Collection from Rosie’s Studio. This collection has such a lovely rustic feel, combining traditional festive imagery with soft neutrals, muted greens and touches of gold.

Card Inspiration: Layered Woodland Christmas Card
The main feature of this card is the layered arrangement positioned over the soft plaid background. I started with the larger pieces before gradually adding smaller foliage, flowers and decorative details. This is one of my favourite ways to use coordinating ephemera because the different shapes naturally build into a full and dimensional focal point.
The neutral kraft card base helps frame the patterned paper while complementing the colours within the collection. Small gold stars and domed embellishments complete the design, adding just enough shine without distracting from the central reindeer.
- Create a top-folding card base from kraft cardstock.
- Trim a piece of plaid patterned paper from the Sleigh Bells Ring Collection so that it leaves an even kraft border around the outside.
- Adhere the patterned paper to the centre of the card base. Foam tape can be used if you would like the panel to sit slightly raised.
- Select a larger circular or decorative piece to act as the base of the central arrangement.
- Position the larger foliage and floral elements around the circle, allowing some pieces to extend beyond its edges.
- Add the leaping reindeer to the centre of the arrangement using foam tape for additional dimension.
- Layer the “Merry Christmas” banner across the front of the reindeer, curving it naturally through the design.
- Fill any remaining gaps with smaller foliage, flowers, baubles and decorative pieces from the collection.
- Finish the card with gold star embellishments and a few coordinating domed gems.
When building a design like this, avoid adhering everything immediately. Arrange the pieces first, take a quick photograph for reference and then begin sticking them down from the back layer towards the front.
