Today I’m sharing a fun and playful friendship card created with the Fresh Kicks Bundle from Concord & 9th. I absolutely love how this bundle combines trendy trainer images with florals and pun-filled sentiments for cards that instantly make people smile.

For this design, I leaned into a casual notebook-inspired theme with lined paper, splatters, and bright pops of colour to create a card that feels modern, youthful, and full of personality. The “you + me = sole mates” sentiment was just too good not to use!

Card Inspiration – Sole Mates Friendship Card

For this card, I wanted the trainers to feel like they were doodled onto a notebook page, almost like something you’d sketch during class. Pairing the lined paper background with the bold sentiment creates such a fun focal point while still keeping the design clean and easy to recreate.

The soft blue cardstock helps frame the design while allowing the brighter floral details and red heart accent to really stand out.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Create an A2 card base using soft blue cardstock and add a slightly smaller matching mat layer for added dimension.
2. Trim a piece of lined notebook-style patterned paper to fit the centre of the card and tear sections along the left-hand side for extra texture and interest.
3. Stamp the trainer images from the Fresh Kicks Bundle onto white cardstock using black ink.
4. Colour the floral elements using bright pink and green alcohol markers, keeping the shoes themselves mostly neutral so the flowers become the focal point.
5. Die cut the trainer images using the coordinating dies.
6. Stamp the “you + me = sole mates” sentiment onto the notebook paper background using black ink.
7. Add a small red heart detail beneath the sentiment for an extra pop of colour.
8. Adhere the notebook panel onto the card front using foam tape for dimension.
9. Attach the trainer images overlapping slightly at the bottom of the panel.
10. Finish the card with black ink splatter and a few iridescent sequins for sparkle and texture.
