Hello crafty friends!
Today I’m excited to be taking part in a special blog hop celebrating Altenew’s Celebrating Parents Card Drive, and I’m sharing a bright and cheerful floral card created with the Craft-A-Flower: Buttercup Bunch Layering Die Set.
Buttercups are such joyful flowers, and I love how this die set makes it easy to create dimensional blooms with beautiful layered petals and delicate stems. For this project, I paired vibrant yellow buttercups with a soft blue background to create a fresh spring palette that really lets the flowers shine.
If you’re hopping along today, you should have arrived here from the previous stop on the hop. Be sure to visit all the designers for lots of inspiration and your chance to win prizes!
Why you’ll love the Craft-A-Flower: Buttercup Bunch Layering Die Set
The Craft-A-Flower series from Altenew is always a favourite of mine because it makes creating layered florals so easy and effective.
Here are just a few reasons why this set is a must-have for floral card makers:
- Creates beautifully layered dimensional buttercup flowers
- The individual layers allow you to customise colours and shading
- Includes stems and leafy accents for full floral arrangements
- Perfect for spring cards, thank you cards, and encouragement cards
- Works beautifully with simple ink blending for realistic petal shading
For this card, I blended yellow inks onto the petals before layering them together to create that glowing centre effect that buttercups are known for.
Card Inspiration Buttercup Thank You Card

For this project, I wanted the flowers to be the main focus, so I kept the layout clean and let the buttercups form a natural bouquet across the card front.
The soft blue background provides a gentle contrast to the bright yellow blooms, while the layered die-cut sentiment ties everything together.
The white paint splatter adds a little extra texture and helps give the card a fresh, airy feel.
Step-by-step instructions
- Die cut the layers for the buttercups using the Craft-A-Flower: Buttercup Bunch Layering Die Set.
- Blend yellow ink onto the flower petal layers, concentrating the colour towards the centres to create depth.
- Assemble the flowers by layering the die-cut pieces together.
- Die cut the stems and leaves using green cardstock and assemble the floral arrangement.
- Create a card base using light blue cardstock and add a slightly smaller layered panel on top.
- Arrange the buttercups across the card front and adhere them using liquid glue and foam tape for dimension.
- Die cut the “thankful” sentiment and adhere it across the centre of the bouquet.
- Add a small “for you” sentiment strip underneath.
- Finish the card with white paint splatter and a few clear embellishments for sparkle.
