Today I’m sharing a closer look at this soft, garden-inspired card created using the Altenew Build-A-Garden: Rosa Gallica set. This card is all about gentle colour, layered florals, and subtle texture, coming together to create a calm and thoughtful design that would suit so many occasions.
I was really inspired by the elegance of the Rosa Gallica blooms and wanted to let them shine without overcomplicating the layout. By keeping the background clean but interesting, the floral arrangement becomes the true focal point of the card.

Card Inspiration – Soft Garden Blessings

For this card, I chose a fresh green striped background to complement the soft pink florals and muted peach accents. The stripes add structure without overwhelming the design, while the repeated background sentiment adds an extra layer of interest when you look closely.
Before moving into the steps, one of my favourite details on this card is the twine wrapped vertically through the centre. It adds texture and helps draw the eye straight to the floral cluster and sentiment.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Stamp the Rosa Gallica floral and leaf images onto white cardstock using a light ink for the first layer.
- Continue building up the layers using progressively darker inks to create depth and definition.
- Die cut or fussy cut all the stamped images once complete.
- Create a background panel using green striped cardstock or patterned paper.
- Lightly stamp a sentiment repeatedly across the background for a subtle text effect.
- Wrap twine around the background panel and secure it at the back.
- Arrange the florals over the centre of the card, slightly overlapping for a natural flow.
- Add a small sentiment strip and finish with sequins or enamel dots for gentle sparkle.
