Card Inspiration – Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful
For this card, I wanted the florals to take centre stage with a calm, fresh green background that really makes the blooms pop. The layered daisies are coloured in warm yellow and peach tones, giving the card a soft glow. A natural twine wrap adds texture, while a sprinkling of enamel dots finishes the look with a subtle, elegant touch. Here’s how I created it:
- Stamp and colour the florals:
I began by stamping the Oxeye Daisies using black ink and coloured them using Altenew’s Peachy Keen, Red Jasper, and Grass Field inks along with coordinating stencils and blending brushes for a smooth finish. - Die cut the floral cluster:
Using the coordinating die, I cut out the floral arrangement, giving it clean and crisp edges. - Create the background:
A light green cardstock base was used to complement the floral colours. I added a slightly smaller panel of the same cardstock, popped up with foam tape for dimension. - Add splatter detail:
To give more life to the background, I used white paint to flick some splatters across the panel—this adds interest without taking focus from the flowers. - Attach the floral element:
The die-cut floral piece was adhered with foam tape on the right-hand side of the panel, allowing parts to slightly overhang for a more dynamic layout. - Add the sentiment:
The sentiment “be your own kind of beautiful” was stamped in black on a white strip and tucked under a strand of natural twine, which I wrapped around the panel. - Finishing touches:
A few coordinating enamel dots from Altenew’s Cool Summer Night set were added around the focal point to balance the design.
