Hello crafty friends!
Sometimes you just need a Christmas card that looks like you’ve spent hours making it, without actually spending hours making it. This one definitely falls into that category!
For today’s card, I’ve been playing with the Rosie’s Studio North Pole Post 3D Embellishments – Ornaments, allowing those gorgeous oversized baubles to do almost all of the work. I love the mix of traditional reds and greens alongside the softer pinks and icy blues; they give the card a wonderfully nostalgic Christmas feel while still keeping everything fresh and fun.
And there’s currently a rather good excuse to stock up. Rosie’s Studio is running a Mix & Match Buy 4, Get 1 Free offer across its Christmas 3D acetate embellishments. You can also use my discount code MARTIN10 for an additional 10% off.
Why you’ll love the North Pole Post 3D Embellishments
I’m a huge fan of products that let you create something impressive without needing another seventeen die-cutting plates scattered across the desk, and these embellishments are perfect for that.
The baubles already have all that gorgeous colour, pattern and detail built into them, so they instantly become the focal point of a card. The layered construction gives them plenty of dimension too, which means you really don’t have to add much around them.
What I particularly love about the North Pole Post collection is the colour palette. You’ve got those classic festive reds and greens, but then there are beautiful softer shades of pink, aqua and blue mixed in. That made the pale aqua background an obvious choice for this card and allowed every single ornament to stand out.
Card Inspiration – Merriest Time of the Year Christmas Card

For this card, I wanted the embellishments to look almost as though a collection of vintage Christmas decorations had been scattered across the card.
Rather than lining everything up perfectly, I overlapped some of the baubles and let others extend beyond the edges of the panel. Adding natural twine bows to each ornament brings another texture into the design and helps connect all those individual elements together.
The long banner sentiment across the centre then gives your eye somewhere to settle amongst all that festive mayhem.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Create your card base from pale aqua cardstock. Cut a second piece of the same cardstock slightly smaller than the card front to create the raised central panel.
- Add fine white splatters across the smaller aqua panel. Keep these fairly subtle so they add a little snowy texture without distracting from the embellishments.
- Adhere the smaller aqua panel onto the card base using foam adhesive. Using the same colour cardstock for both layers keeps the design clean while still adding plenty of dimension.
- Select a mixture of baubles from the North Pole Post 3D Embellishments – Ornaments. Mix the different colours, shapes and sizes so the finished arrangement feels varied and playful.
- Tie small bows using natural twine and adhere one to the top of each ornament. Leave the tails fairly loose so they can curl and travel across the card rather than looking too neat.
- Begin arranging the larger ornaments across the card before filling the remaining spaces with the smaller designs. Allow some of the baubles to overlap and let a few extend beyond the edge of the raised panel.
- Position the large pink “It’s the Merriest Time of the Year!” banner across the centre of the card, overlapping several of the ornaments. Layer the smaller red “Happy Holidays” sentiment over the top.
- Complete the card with a scattering of aqua dimensional embellishments, concentrating them around the ornaments and sentiment rather than spacing them too evenly.
