Hello crafty friends!
If you love making cards with oversized sentiments that instantly grab attention, today’s project is sure to inspire you. I’ve created this bright and cheerful encouragement card using the Altenew Classic Alphabet Die Set, combining bold letter die-cuts with beautifully coloured floral images for a design that feels both modern and uplifting.
One of the things I love most about alphabet dies is their versatility. Whether you’re creating birthday cards, thank you cards, encouragement cards, or personalised projects, a good alphabet set quickly becomes a staple in your craft room. For this project, I used the letters to create a large focal sentiment and paired them with vibrant florals to soften the design and add plenty of detail.

Card Inspiration: Bold Girl Power Encouragement Card

For today’s card, I wanted the sentiment to do all the heavy lifting. Rather than placing a small greeting on the card, I turned the word “GIRL” into the main focal point using bright pink cardstock against a vibrant turquoise background.
To balance the bold typography, I added clusters of floral images around the edges of the sentiment. The combination of pink and turquoise creates a fresh, energetic colour palette that feels fun, modern, and empowering.
The finishing touch was a simple heat-embossed sentiment strip reading “You Are Awesome!” which reinforces the encouraging theme without competing with the oversized letters.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Create a DL card base from bright blue cardstock.
- Trim a bright pink cardstock panel slightly smaller than the card front to create a mat layer.
- Using the Altenew Classic Alphabet Die Set, die cut the letters needed to spell “GIRL” directly from the pink panel.
- Add foam tape to the reverse of the pink panel and adhere it to the blue card base, allowing the blue cardstock to show through the die-cut letters.
- Stamp the floral images from the Mini Delight: Stylish Shades Stamp & Die Set onto white cardstock.
- Colour the images using your preferred colouring medium.
- Fussy cut the flowers.
- Arrange and adhere the floral images around the sentiment panel, allowing some of the flowers to overlap the edges for added interest.
- Stamp the sentiment onto black cardstock and emboss in white if desired.
- Trim the sentiment into a strip and adhere it across the card using foam adhesive.
- Finish the card by adding black ink splatter across the design.
