Card Inspiration Elegant Garland Layers

For this project, I wanted to keep things soft and understated while still creating visual interest through layering and placement.
The muted background paired with blush pink florals and sage-toned leaves creates a calming, almost romantic feel. By framing the design with a subtle panel and allowing the florals to spill over the edges, it gives the illusion of a fuller, more intricate composition—without actually adding complexity.
That’s the trick with this card: it looks detailed, but it’s incredibly achievable.
Step-by-step:
- Start with a standard card base and add a soft ink-blended panel using a muted green/blue tone for a subtle backdrop.
- Die cut a slightly smaller rectangle panel and adhere it on top to create a framed layer effect.
- Stamp the floral images from the Build-A-Garden: Garland Grace set onto white cardstock.
- Use the coordinating stencils or your preferred colouring medium to add soft pinks to the flowers and gentle greens to the leaves.
- Die cut all the floral elements using the coordinating dies.
- Arrange the larger florals first—placing one towards the top left and another towards the bottom right to create balance.
- Fill in with smaller floral clusters to build a natural flow across the card.
- Adhere some elements flat and pop others up with foam tape to add dimension.
- Stamp a simple sentiment and trim it into a strip before adhering across the centre.
- Finish with a touch of twine for added texture and a hint of movement.
