Card Inspiration – Fluttering Love for Mum

For this card, I wanted the butterflies to feel like they were gently floating across the background, creating a sense of movement and lightness. The deep green backdrop really helps those soft lilac and peach tones pop, while the splatter and embellishments add just the right amount of sparkle.
The sentiment is kept central but subtle, allowing the butterflies to take centre stage while still delivering that heartfelt message.
- I started by creating a rich green background, adding a little ink blending to deepen the edges before splattering it with white for that soft, almost magical finish.
- To frame the design, I added a raised panel using the same cardstock, which helps draw your eye into the centre of the card.
- Next came the butterflies—definitely the stars of the show. I die cut several using soft lilac and peach tones, layering them up to give that beautiful dimension. Gently shaping the wings really brings them to life.
- Once everything was ready, I arranged the butterflies across the panel, mixing sizes and colours until it felt balanced. Some are adhered flat while others are popped up with foam pads to add depth and interest.
- For the sentiment, I combined the bold “Grateful” with the smaller “love you, mum” strip, keeping it layered but still clean so it doesn’t overpower the design.
- To finish, I added a few sequins and extra splatter for sparkle—those final touches that really bring the whole card together.
