Hello crafty friends!
Welcome to Day 8 of the challenge! Today marks our second Sketch Challenge, and it’s all about finding balance, structure, and a touch of festive flair. Sketches are such a great way to spark creativity when you’re not sure where to start — they offer a framework, but how you bring it to life is completely up to you.

Daily Challenge

For this sketch, think about how you can make each layer work together to create harmony and depth in your design.
A few ideas to get you started:
- Rotate or flip the sketch to change the perspective.
- Use patterned paper to anchor your background and draw focus to your central element.
- Add layers with vellum or acetate for a soft, frosty look.
- Embellish with sequins, thread, or twine to add gentle sparkle and texture.
Sketch challenges are the perfect opportunity to experiment — there’s no right or wrong interpretation, just your own creative spin.
Today’s Project

For my take on the sketch, I reached for the Kingston Crafts Vellum and Acetate Holiday Kit and Christmas Paper Pad Matrix. I wanted to combine the charm of gingerbread tones with a modern layered structure, using acetate for shine and vellum for softness.
The background’s subtle plaid pattern adds warmth, while the layered die-cuts and poinsettias bring that festive detail to life. A “Merry Christmas” sentiment grounds the centre, with gold sequins catching the light like twinkling fairy lights.
The result is a card that feels both classic and fresh — a perfect nod to the holiday season’s warmth and sparkle.
